Head Mounted Display

A device that is put on the head of a user which allows seeing the content of a virtual world. The HMD uses one or two small display devices, usually one for each eye, and optical lenses so the image is propagated to the user's eyes.

HMDs are often used in conjunction with a tracking system in order to change the view point of the scene seen by the user as he rotates and move his head in space. The computer can generate a new scene viewpoint perspective in real-time as the user's head moves to give the impression the user is actually surrounded by the scene.
