Interoperability, correlation and rich visual simulation capabilities crucial to pilot training success

Montreal, Quebec Canada - February 6, 2008 - Presagis, a leading provider of commercial-off-the shelf (COTS) modeling, simulation and embedded display graphics software for the aerospace and defense industry, today announced the Israeli Air Force (IAF) has successfully integrated a series of Presagis COTS software solutions to support the development of its new Flight and System Trainer for the F-16I aircraft. IAF will be using the Presagis image generator, Lyra, and content creation solutions, Creator Terrain Studio, Creator Virtual Texture Studio and Creator Pro, to construct virtual terrain for F-16I aircraft simulator training exercises.

"Accurate and detailed content is vital to the development of realistic, immersive simulations," said Robert Kopersiewich, Vice President, Product Management, Presagis. "In order to achieve great content, it is critical that modeling and simulation tools integrate seamlessly into a project's workflow. Presagis software compatibility with the IAF's current terrain database and hardware systems eased the integration process and optimized productivity to achieve a positive training environment. "

The Flight and System Trainer was developed by the IAF, in conjunction with Elbit Systems Limited and Presagis to assemble the new F-16I aircraft training system for mission training capabilities; specifically air-to-surface and surface-to-air weapons delivery training and night vision goggle simulations.

Originally selected for its high-fidelity visual simulations, Presagis software solution's interoperability and correlation capabilities with existing training systems provided IAF with an easy to manage solution. Each Presagis software tool intuitively draws from IAF's current assets to deliver customer-specific configuration files, including dynamic "geo-specific" simulation features designed to generate immersive and realistic images for engaging pilot training exercises aboard the F-16I flight trainer. The Presagis content creation and visualization solutions are an integral part of the F-16I simulator system. The tools are optimized to work together in highly complex, real-time 3D environments using off-the-shelf hardware and open standards, providing the IAF with a highly interoperable software solution that integrates smoothly with existing systems.
