FAQ about becoming an editor at VResources.org

Q: What are the requirements to become an editor on VResources.org?

A: Not much is needed. A good knowledge of VR is a plus but not necessarily required. An interest in VR is really a must. Depending on your knowledge of VR, you can take various level of implication on the site, from posting news weekly to posting your own in-depth articles about subjects regarding VR, AR and 3D in general.

Q: What are the guidelines on the content posted?

A: The general guideline for all content posted on VResources.org is that content must remain impartial and neutral. Things that would not be jugged acceptable are content written by a company about its own products for example. Articles about VR in general are welcomed.

The basic requirement for editors is to behave with good manners and good judgment and be professional in all they do while on VResources.

When posting news, the news must respect a certain compatibility with the kind of stories we usually feature on the site. They must be relevant to VR, written in a good language and be backed from trusted sources as much as possible. Articles that sound too hyped or with little scientific substance are not accepted. Articles that present unrealistic views of what VR is or that are mainly based on hypothetical ideas are also rejected.

Q: How do I go about posting something new or edit existing content?

A: VResources allows you to write your articles directly on the web interface so that your article drafts are always online. The site engine also supports document revisions and editors are encouraged to use this feature extensively. The revision creation process is automatic and transparent as a new revision is created each time you save an existing document that you are working on.

The typical document editing workflow is to enter content on the site periodically and save many versions of a document as you work on it until it is acceptable for public publishing. During that process, other VResources editors can have access to your documents and comment on them as they are in draft stage. This peer reviewing process allows other editors to review and approve your articles before it is granted for public publishing. We thus have a process in place so that you are not left alone but rather work as part of a team. All content is peer-reviewed by all editors so that you can get comments from others as your articles drafts evolves up to a point where it is accepted for online publishing. This allows other editors to see what you have done so far and provide feedback for you to make adjustments before the final version is made.

Q: How do I get started?

A: Interested individuals should create an account on VResources.org using their real name. Use the first name first letter and the full last name. For example, if your real name is "John Peterson", your user name would be "jpeterson". Then, contact us by Email at vresources@vresources.org and tell us your user name and why you would like to become an editor. Also briefly tell us what you have been doing in the VR field in the past and at present.
